The Project:
Concept to creation album production and design for the debut record from singer-songwriter Sarah Grella. An emotional, introspective album, ‘The Garden’ was about more than just music—it was about reclaiming one’s identity and healing from the past.
The Timeline:
June 2022—May 2023
The Outcome:
‘The Garden’ was released on May 13, 2023 after a year-long process of recording, mixing, photographing, designing, and consulting to prepare for its release. A sold-out album release show was held at Boston’s historic folk venue, Club Passim.

Production
Sarah came to us with songs and key aesthetic cues in mind, but looking for collaboration on arrangements and production. With acoustic and virtual instruments, we explored a wide palette of colors and textures to bring her vision to life.
Photography
Sarah was looking for an aesthetic that was dreamy, warm, and inspired by Pre-Raphaelite art. We set up a DIY backdrop from curtains and household items at her apartment, with soft daylight pouring in through the window.
Album Design
The album design came together using photos we captured paired with soft colors for a minimalist, elegant look.
Zine Design
Developed as part of a crowdfunding strategy, we worked with Sarah to develop a custom 24-page zine showcasing the lyrics and stories behind the songs.
