SO BLUE

The Project:

The full suite of production, branding, and design for the folk duo So Blue in advance of the launch of their debut EP “In Water and Waves.” The band was changing its name, and with it changing their identity as a whole to better represent the creative direction of their music.

The Timeline:

July 2023—April 2024

The Outcome:

In January 2024, the band formerly known as Amber Wilds became So Blue, complete with a new logo, website, photos, video, and an upcoming EP. ‘In Water and Waves’ released on April 3, 2024, paired with a unique hardcover Lyric & Art Book and a slew of new merchandise.

Logo &
Web Design

A simple, clean, fresh aesthetic that leans into the duo’s melancholic folk aesthetic. The website includes a vertical navigation bar, merchandise storefront, and details on all of their releases.

Photo & Video

New photos and video were key to reimagining the band’s identity, moving from a prior design of warm, sunny colors into moody blues and blacks. This also included the recording and filming of their song ‘Puzzle Pieces’ for the 2024 Tiny Desk Contest.

Audio
Production

So Blue performs as a duo, but had a vision for full, swelling arrangements on their debut EP. After capturing the core of their songs with guitar, bass, and voice, they invited beloved friends to lend their voices to the lush arrangements you hear on the record.

Album Design

A melancholic record that speaks of love, loss, and belonging, ‘In Water and Waves’ needed art that reflected the weight of those emotions. The design was simple in content, but rich in depth and texture, with imagery of sinking beneath a dark green sea.

Merch Design

The release of the duo’s EP was paired with a collection of new merchandise—stickers (not one, not two, but three!), shirts, sweatshirts, posters, and a custom hardcover 24-page Lyric & Art Book with original art, lyrics, and stories behind the songs.
